here i am at the air canada lounge at LAX, ridiculously early for my flight as usual... it's also been delayed by an hour. jason priestly and alec baldwin were in here! jason priestly is WAY shorter than i thought he was. actually, so is alec baldwin.
peanut's travel chronicles
* Lodging - in LA, stayed at my aunt and uncle's house on a mountain overlooking LA... it's such a beautiful house, thank god it wasn't damaged by the fires last year. my trip basically consisted of a lot of shopping, eating and shopping and eating some more. and karaoke. and sleep. yeah. weather-wise, it rained about half the time i was here but we managed to escape the crazy storms by going to Vegas at an opportune time. it is not hot in southern california. it was probably 13 degrees most of the time.
* Shopping - shopped perhaps just a LITTLE too much but i think i still stayed within my budget... err... yeah. it was slightly difficult getting my suitcase closed. i got a dress at bcbg for 70% off and a scarf for half price and a pair of shoes for half price and a sweater for half price and... i love hollister! my cousin kimmie took me all over the place... we went shopping at the beverly center, at fashion island in the o.c. (hah i shopped in the o.c.) where there were way too many ridiculously rich little girls, at several different malls in LA, at the underground shopping complex in Vegas and outlets in Vegas... my other cousin vina took me to these hole-in-the-wall-type stores where you can get really cheap designer jeans.
* Vegas - i lost a total of $7 playing this slot machine called "Wheel of Fortune." i had more fun watching my aunts go crazy gambling. we stayed at the Aladdin (not that great of a hotel but the Aladdin buffet was SO GOOD and my aunt is a VIP there so we got to bypass the superlong line-up to get into the restaurant and got quite a few dirty looks from people waiting... ah well)
* Food - oh god... i might have gained 10 pounds in 9 days. for breakfast, lunch and dinner i've been stuffed with really good food. my uncle made the best pork roast. oh the dim sum, cheesecake, shao long baos (ya i can't spell chinese), all my favourite seafood that my uncle cooked... the portions at restaurants here seemed much larger than back home. it's going to be quite the transition going back to eating alphagetti and lipton sidekicks at my grandma's house. speaking of... yay i live by myself again until the spring! party at peanut's house? err... we'll see.
* Snowboarding - my cousins took me and my brother snowboarding three days ago at this place called Mountain High, which is about an hour's drive from my cousin's house. i learned how to snowboard in a freakin blizzard! i fell so many times... at least the snow was soft. only three of the falls REALLY hurt. oi... the next day all my muscle groups hurt. but it was fun! we left early though because the snow was just too much. we were bundled up with goggles, face masks, hats etc s/t it looked like we were going to rob a bank... in our boarding gear.
* karaoke - oh god make it stop lol. at my uncle's house he has three microphones on stands set up with stools behind them and this hardcore karaoke machine where you can record songs and stuff. i completely understand my cousin kimmie's pained look whenever the singing started. it was really cute though. the entire family singing carpenters songs!
* New Year's - went to my cousin paul's friend's house party in melrose. it was fun! didn't get totally hammered but got to meet some interesting (i.e. hot) people hahaha...
* Peanut's Revenge - is the name of a store in the Montclair shopping center! i got my cousin to take a picture of it.
that was my trip! i miss my cousin kimmie already! grrrreat... schooool... aww. it's my last semester at UT! aaaah!
HAPPY 2005!
updated: one more thing!
* Cranium - apparently i rock at creative cat! just call me plasticine queen! i think me, my aunt grace and my cousin kimmie make a REALLY good team lol... |
